New revelations emerge in Diddy’s trial, detailing violent incidents involving Cassie Ventura and claims of emotional manipulation.
In a dramatic courtroom session, Sean "Diddy" Combs was accused of using a hammer in an attempt to break into his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura's apartment following an alleged assault at an Intercontinental Hotel in 2016. Testimony from Ventura's former best friend, Kerry Morgan, detailed the terrifying moments experienced on that night as Combs, 55, pleaded not guilty to numerous charges including racketeering and sex trafficking.
Security footage showcasing Combs’ confrontation with Ventura was presented repeatedly during the trial. Morgan recounted seeing Diddy persistently banging on the door with a hammer, expressing concern for Ventura's safety during the ordeal. Despite what appeared to be a chaotic scene, Morgan stated that it took police approximately three hours to arrive, at which point no formal complaint had been lodged.
The courtroom also heard of other alleged instances of violence. Morgan testified that during a trip to Jamaica, she witnessed Diddy drag Ventura by her hair down a long hallway. Furthermore, Morgan claimed she herself fell victim to Combs' outbursts, describing a violent 2018 incident where he choked her out of jealousy over Ventura.
The friendship between the two women was irreparably damaged by these experiences. Morgan recalled that after the hotel incident, Ventura offered her $30,000 to sign a non-disclosure agreement regarding the events they endured together, further complicating their relationship.
As the trial continues, further testimony from David James, Combs’ former assistant, suggests an atmosphere of control and intimidation within Combs’ inner circle, referencing conversations where Diddy expressed possessive remarks about Ventura. The prosecution aims to portray Combs as having manipulated and abused the young woman over the course of their relationship.
The court proceedings will resume on Tuesday with more testimonies expected, as the evidence unfolds in a trial that could result in life imprisonment for Diddy if he is convicted.
