Tragic Bus Accident in Bolivia Claims Over 30 Lives

According to police reports, at least 30 people have died, while 14 others, including four children, have sustained injuries. Local hospital officials confirmed this grim toll in a video statement.

The bus was traveling between the cities of Potosí and Oruro when the incident occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed may have played a role, with police colonel Victor Benavides indicating that the driver might have lost control due to the bus's high velocity. This accident is reportedly one of the most devastating road incidents in Bolivia this year, shaking the community and raising concerns about road safety.

Local media outlet Unitel reported that some of the injured individuals are in critical condition, further emphasizing the tragic outcome of the crash. Bolivia is notorious for having dangerous road conditions, particularly in its mountainous regions, often leading to fatal accidents. Just last month, another bus crash near Potosí resulted in 19 deaths, underscoring the ongoing issue of transport safety in the country. According to government statistics, road accidents claim around 1,400 lives annually in Bolivia, which has a population of approximately 12 million.
