Lil Nas X Detained and Hospitalized After Late-Night Incident in Los Angeles
Rapper Lil Nas X finds himself in trouble with the law following an altercation with police while wandering the streets of Los Angeles.
Following his booking, authorities noted that the musician was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a potential overdose, according to LAPD spokesperson Charles Miller. A video circulating on social media appears to show Lil Nas X dancing on the street while dressed only in underwear and cowboy boots, reportedly inviting bystanders to join his "party."
Despite the incident, the rapper continues to engage his fan base as he prepares to release his highly-anticipated sophomore album, "Dreamboy," slated for later this year. Having made history as the first openly gay winner of a Country Music Association award with "Old Town Road" in 2019, Lil Nas X has also accumulated two Grammy wins and set a record for the longest-running number one on the Billboard Hot 100, holding the position for an impressive 17 weeks.
His artistic choices have not been without controversy, facing criticism from conservative groups for the music video of "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" which they labeled as offensive. In response to the backlash, he infamously released a parody apology video that escalated his notoriety. As debates surrounding his persona and contributions to music continue, inquiry into whether Lil Nas X embodies the essence of his generation remains prevalent.
