Marius Borg Høiby faces multiple sexual assault allegations, stirring controversy in Norway.
Norwegian police have announced a serious investigation into Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The 28-year-old is suspected of committing three rapes among 23 other offences, including several counts of sexual misconduct. Høiby was arrested on three separate occasions throughout last year—August, September, and November—prompting a thorough 10-month investigation.
Police attorney Andreas Kruszewski confirmed that the case has now been forwarded to public prosecutors to determine potential charges after a comprehensive investigation, which involved extensive witness interviews and digital evidence collection.
Høiby, who does not hold an official royal title or royal duties, faced significant scrutiny following his initial arrest in August 2024 on assault allegations. His attorney, Petar Sekulic, stated that Høiby is taking the accusations seriously but maintains his innocence regarding most allegations, particularly concerning sexual abuse and violence.
The Oslo Police District's investigation detailed a multitude of accusations against Høiby, including four incidents of sexual misconduct and counts of domestic abuse and bodily harm. Although some allegations have been dropped due to statutory limitations and evidentiary challenges, Kruszewski confirmed that the number of alleged victims is substantial, exceeding ten.
Meanwhile, the Royal House of Norway has chosen not to make further comments, noting that the matter is currently within the legal system's purview.
