New Allegations Emerge Against Convicted Rapist Dominique Pelicot
The daughter of Dominique Pelicot has filed a police complaint accusing him of drugging and raping her, further complicating an already horrifying case that shocked France.
The daughter of Dominique Pelicot, who was recently found guilty of drugging and raping his wife over a significant period, has made shocking allegations against him, claiming that he also drugged and raped her. This police complaint was filed this week and is set to be examined by an investigating judge or prosecutor in order to assess the validity of the new charges against Mr. Pelicot.
Last December, Pelicot was convicted in a trial that horrified the French public, revealing the extent of his abuse towards his wife, Gisèle Pelicot. He was found guilty of luring numerous men to their home in southern France to sexually assault her, using her deeply sedated state as a method to facilitate the abuses. In addition to Pelicot, fifty other men were convicted as well, primarily for their roles in the heinous acts committed against Ms. Pelicot.
The Pelicot trial sparked widespread discussions in France regarding rape culture, consent, and the treacherous use of sedatives and anti-anxiety medications in perpetrating such crimes, a phenomenon described in France as chemical submission. Throughout the trial, Caroline Darian, Pelicot’s daughter, confronted her father on multiple occasions, expressing her belief that he had also drugged and violated her. Mr. Pelicot vehemently denied these accusations, asserting that he had never touched his daughter.
Although prosecutors did not proceed with charges against him for the alleged abuse of his daughter during the previous trial, the new complaint filed by Ms. Darian now opens the door to further investigations. In a disturbing twist, Mr. Pelicot had previously been found guilty of taking intimate photos of his own daughter and daughters-in-law. Approximately 20,000 images and videos were uncovered on his devices, revealing the extent of the atrocities he orchestrated against his wife and allowing police to identify other perpetrators involved in the horrific acts.
