Sexual Assault Allegations Expand to All Fayed Brothers Linked to Harrods
The abuse scandal involving Mohamed al-Fayed has intensified as allegations now encompass his brothers Salah and Ali, former co-owners of the iconic London department store Harrods.
Amy McIlquham, who worked at Harrods in the 1990s, has come forward with allegations of sexual assault against Ali Fayed, one of the former co-owners of the renowned London department store. McIlquham, then just 21 years old, was invited to Gstaad, Switzerland, under the pretense of work but experienced a shocking incident of sexual misconduct instead.
In April 1994, while she was alone in a chalet with Ali and a housekeeper, McIlquham recounted being subjected to inappropriate advances. She vividly recalled the experience, saying, “I was molested, sexually molested, without a doubt. And he was just giggling.” At the time, McIlquham was a Canadian on a work-abroad program, having risen from a position on the shop floor to become a personal assistant to Mohamed al-Fayed, who owned Harrods alongside his brothers Salah and Ali.
McIlquham's allegations add a significant dimension to an abuse scandal that initially focused on Mohamed al-Fayed himself. The unfolding revelations have now implicated all three brothers in serious accusations, with the public and legal scrutiny likely to intensify.
As the story develops, many are left questioning the culture of power and privilege within one of the UK’s most famous luxury establishments and the responsibility of those who allow such behavior to persist.
