Sole Air India Crash Survivor Bids Farewell to Brother Lost in Tragedy

In a heartbreaking display of loss, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, the single survivor of last week's devastating Air India crash, participated in his brother Ajay's funeral. Ramesh, who sustained injuries, attempted to rescue Ajay at the accident site before coming to terms with the tragedy.

Vishwashkumar Ramesh, the only survivor of a tragic Air India plane crash, has laid his brother Ajay to rest during an emotional funeral in the town of Diu, India. Ajay was among the 270 people who perished when the London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed mere seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad last Thursday.

With white bandages covering his injuries, Ramesh stood as a pallbearer, holding his brother's coffin alongside mourners, including their mother, who donned a blue sari in remembrance. The procession took place amid pouring rain, as the community, which lost fourteen individuals in the disaster, came together to support the grieving family.

Ramesh's survival remains a mystery; witnesses report he attempted to return to the blazing wreckage in search of his brother. An ambulance driver, Satinder Singh Sandhu, captured footage of Ramesh emerging from the flames, guiding him away from the crash scene, still unaware that he was aiding the sole survivor. Sandhu detailed how he initially thought the incident was a car accident before realizing the horrifying truth.

Ramesh was seated in 11A on the ill-fated flight, with Ajay just a few rows away. All other passengers and crew tragically lost their lives, with numerous fatalities also reported on the ground as the aircraft crashed into a nearby doctor's hostel. Miraculously, Ramesh managed to escape through an opening in the fuselage.

In his recounting of the harrowing experience, Ramesh expressed disbelief at his survival, recalling the moment he emerged from the wreckage and felt an overwhelming sense of dread followed by astonishment at being alive. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, with officials focusing on retrieving data from the black boxes to uncover what transpired on that fateful day.
