The owner of the Jet Set nightclub, where a catastrophic roof collapse resulted in the deaths of 236 individuals on April 8, has been arrested and is facing charges of involuntary homicide, according to prosecutors. The arrest of Antonio Espaillat, along with his sister Maribel, comes in the wake of a worker's testimony revealing that the management had received prior warnings about the dangerous condition of the roof.

Following the tragic event during a live concert, a substantial rescue operation unfolded to search for survivors, spotlighting the urgent need for improved building inspections across the Dominican Republic. Prosecutors announced the charges against the Espaillat siblings after evidence surfaced indicating that they ignored significant safety issues in their establishment.
