Vincent Pastore, 80, has died, reported by CBS News, said he was found at his Bronx home with no indication of criminal activity.
The actor was best known for portraying Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero, Tony Soprano’s close friend who ultimately became an informant. His character’s death during the second season of the acclaimed series remains one of the show’s most memorable moments.

Pastore was born in the Bronx in 1946 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War before starting his acting career. Early credits included roles in Goodfellas and Carlito’s Way, as well as television appearances on Law & Order, General Hospital and Hawaii Five‑O.
Although he was killed off in season two of The Sopranos, Pastore appeared in all six seasons and helped the ensemble win the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2000.
Pastore was praised for his passion, encouragement of young actors, and generous mentorship. His passing marks the loss of a beloved figure in both the soap‑opera world and the larger television community.
