Two Killed in Domestic Violence Incident at German School Near Berlin

Brandenburg state police announced that a 19‑year‑old German man has been arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident that claimed the lives of an 18‑year‑old female secondary school student and a 30‑year‑old male visitor who tried to intervene.

The police said the event was not a mass shooting; the exact weapon used remains undisclosed. It is still unclear whether the suspect attended the private Docemus school, where the tragedy occurred. Local reports suggest the man is the ex‑boyfriend of the student victim.

State parliament speaker Ulrike Liedtke described the incident as a “cowardly femicide,” expressing sorrow and anger at the renewed violence against a woman, and lamenting the loss of the citizen who attempted to help.

State premier Dietmar Woidke called the act an “unimaginable act of violence.”

Michael Kunz, the school’s managing director, announced that classes would be cancelled on Friday but that the campus would remain open for students wishing to attend, providing a safe space for discussion and processing.
