US President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that there are very friendly negotiations taking place about the conflict with Iran after a three‑day pause in strikes.
He said he thinks there is a good chance something could happen and that the United States would return to its prior posture if talks failed.
Iran has denied that any direct negotiations are underway, but both sides have paused attacks. Trump explained that the pause began on Friday after mediators asked him to give talks another chance.
The United States has also halted its strikes and dropped the naval blockade. This pause follows nearly two weeks of daily U.S. air strikes aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Oil prices fell more than 9 % on Monday as hopes of de‑escalation grew. Trump dismissed media reports that American ammunition stocks were low, saying the U.S. holds ample munitions and is building more Patriot anti‑ballistic missiles.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly reiterated that the U.S. military has more than enough ammunition to support all strategic goals, and highlighted the necessity of American‑made weapons.
