Four children have been brutally stabbed and killed at a school in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, according to police reports.
A 34-year-old suspect has been detained, but the motive behind the killings is still under investigation, the Uganda Police Force stated.
The tragic event occurred at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program School in the Makindye Division of Kampala.
Crime scene investigators are at the site, and a police spokesperson indicates that further details will be released later. Police chief Abas Byakagaba and senior officers have been briefed on the incidents.
Residents have reported that the suspect pretended to be a parent to gain access to the school before launching the attack on the children, aged between two and three.
Videos circulating on social media depict scenes of distress as crowds gather outside the school. A local journalist highlighted that the suspect was detained swiftly to prevent a lynching.
