BULVERDE, Texas (RTW News) — A devastating incident occurred at Hill Country College Preparatory High School as a 15-year-old student shot a teacher before fatally shooting himself, authorities confirmed on Monday.

The teacher was urgently transported to an area hospital in San Antonio, with no immediate update on her condition, while the student died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No other injuries were recorded during this terrible event, which began shortly after 8:34 a.m. when the school went into lockdown. Reports from students indicate that loud bangs were heard followed by screams, triggering intense panic.

Parents gathered at a nearby middle school, anxiously waiting to reunite with their children as they reflected on the traumatic events that had unfolded. Jesse Lopez, a concerned parent, expressed his worries about the impact this incident would have on his daughter, who has autism, saying it would be difficult for her to return to school.

The school, which promotes a STEAM-centric curriculum, has been operational since August 2020 and currently serves approximately 260 students. The Comal Independent School District has released no additional information regarding the motivations behind the shooting, adding an air of mystery and concern among parents and community members. As the investigation continues, the community is in mourning after this heartbreaking incident.
