STOCKTON, Calif. (RTWNews) — A tragic shooting incident at a banquet hall in Stockton has left four people dead and ten others injured, as confirmed by sheriff’s officials on Saturday. The victims comprised both children and adults, creating a devastating scene during what was supposed to be a family gathering. Heather Brent, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County sheriff’s office, indicated that initial assessments suggest this may have been a targeted attack.
Local law enforcement is actively searching for the suspect, who has not yet been apprehended. During a recent news conference, San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas appealed to the community for assistance, stating, ‘If you have any information about this individual, reach out immediately. If you are this individual, turn yourself in immediately.’
The gunfire erupted just before 6 p.m. inside the banquet hall located adjacent to a shared parking lot with other businesses in Stockton, a city of approximately 320,000 residents about 40 miles south of Sacramento.
‘Families should be together instead of at the hospital, standing next to their loved one, praying that they survive,’ lamented Mayor Christina Fugazzi, reflecting the sorrow and turmoil impacting the community. Although authorities have not provided further details regarding the victims' conditions, it was noted that several were transported to local hospitals for urgent care.
