At least 12 people have died and 20 wounded in the latest overnight Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and its surrounding region, killing six railway workers at a depot. The strikes followed Russia’s claim that it was targeting Ukrainian military and energy facilities, while one Russian citizen was also killed in the Belgorod region. Amid the heightened violence, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged President Vladimir Putin to end the war during a security summit in Kyrgyzstan, further highlighting international pressure. The attacks are part of a broader strategy to exhaust Ukrainian air defences and demoralise civilians, Kiev’s authorities have detected fires in three districts and casualties in nearby Boryspil where a residential building was hit. The latest strikes come a day after the Russian forces halted their wildfires on the Belgorod region and in the Kyiv region. Another four people were killed when a residential building in Boryspil was hit.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivsky reported that an Indian national, aged 26, was among those killed during the attacks in Boryspil. Separate drone attacks have also hit the major Russian Baltic Sea port in Ust‑Luga, igniting fires and disrupting maritime logistics.
