After a decade in obscurity, Australian rock icon Chrissy Amphlett’s voice will echo again as three unreleased songs, co‑written with Tim Finn in 1998, are unearthed in Finn’s garage. The tracks—produced during a brief collaboration between Amphlett and former Split Enz frontman—will debut as the EP "Some Times" this Friday. Finn recounted how Amphlett, freshly divorced, forged a partnership with drummer Charley Drayton, leading to the spirited 1998 recording sessions. The discovery harks back to Amphlett’s 1990 chart‑topping hit "I Touch Myself" and showcases a rare glimpse of her post‑Divinyls era.

After a decade in obscurity, Australian rock icon Chrissy Amphlett’s voice will echo again as three unreleased songs, co‑written with Tim Finn in 1998, are unearthed in Finn’s garage.

The tracks, formed during a brief collaboration between Amphlett and former Split Enz frontman, will debut as the EP “Some Times” this Friday.

Finn recalled that Amphlett, freshly divorced from guitarist Mark McEntee, had been looking for a fresh musical direction and partnered with drummer Charley Drayton – with whom she would later marry – to write and record the trio of songs in Sydney.

The songs were never fully realised after the session, but Finn kept the tape. In 2023 Drayton contacted Finn about the recordings and the two‑inch tape turned up in Drayton’s garage – still in perfect condition.

With the release of “Some Times” fans will hear a rare glimpse of Amphlett’s post‑Divinyls era, bringing her trademark husky voice and charisma back to the spotlight for the first time in more than ten years.
