Suspected crime boss Daniel Kinahan has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates in relation to alleged serious organised crime offences.

Kinahan, aged in his 40s, was arrested in Dubai over a warrant issued by the Irish courts, according to reports from Irish national broadcaster RTÉ.

Dubai police confirmed that the arrest was made on Wednesday, April 15, following extensive search and surveillance operations.

An Garda Síochána (Irish police) has acknowledged awareness of the arrest of Kinahan, identifying him as an Irish national.

Authorities in Dubai indicated that the arrest was part of a broader effort to tackle international organised crime.

The operation was initiated following the receipt of a judicial file from Irish authorities detailing Kinahan's alleged crimes and his ties to an international crime syndicate.

Based on this information, the Dubai Public Prosecution issued an arrest warrant to begin legal procedures for his extradition.

Kinahan was apprehended within 48 hours of the warrant being issued, marking a significant development in the ongoing international law enforcement cooperation.

Gardaí stated that the arrest is in line with the existing extradition agreement between Ireland and the United Arab Emirates, underscoring the importance of collaborative action against transnational crime.

In a statement, An Garda Síochána remarked: Today's arrest is another extremely important demonstration of the need for international law enforcement cooperation in tackling transnational organised crime.
