(RTW News) — The manhunt for the shooter who killed two Brown University students and wounded nine others continues, following a misstep in the investigation that led to authorities releasing a person of interest. The person of interest was detained at a hotel approximately 20 miles from the university on Sunday morning after police believed they had made significant progress in the case. However, after further investigation, it was determined that the evidence pointed in a different direction, leading to the man's release.
Authorities have not yet identified any solid suspect, with Providence Mayor Brett Smiley urging the community to remain vigilant. We have a murderer out there, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha stated, emphasizing the need for robust investigative efforts.
