Helicopter Crash Near Montreal Claims Four Lives

Four people were killed when a helicopter crashed in the town of Sainte‑Brigide‑d’Iberville, about 50 km west of Montreal late Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews were dispatched after a distress call around 14:30 local time (19:30 BST). They found the aircraft on fire and confirmed that all occupants were dead at the scene.

Police have not yet identified the victims, but the helicopter appears to have been a private aircraft, Sergeant Audrey‑Anne Bilodeau said.

The investigation is being led by the Major Crime Unit of the Sûreté du Québec in cooperation with court‑scene technicians and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within an hour, though authorities remained on the site until after 22:00 local time.

Officials say identifying the victims could take a few days as they work through the remains.
