Police investigations reveal that Jota, 28, and his 25-year-old brother were driving a Lamborghini on the A52 motorway near Palacios de Sanabria when their car reportedly veered off the road, culminating in a fiery crash attributed to a suspected tyre blowout.

The Zamora local traffic police indicated that the evidence points to possible excessive speed exceeding the legal limit of 120 km/h (75 mph) for the highway. They have examined tyre impressions at a distance of approximately 100 meters from where the vehicle left the roadway.

Tragically, the accident unfolded just 11 days after Jota married his longtime partner, Rute Cardoso, and he leaves behind three young children. The brothers were en route to Santander, Spain, for Jota to join Liverpool for pre-season preparations.

Their funeral service, attended by friends, family, and soccer teammates, was held in their hometown of Gondomar, Portugal, over the weekend, as the football community mourns their loss.
