A Boeing 767‑300 cargo plane was landing in Miami on Sunday afternoon after a flight from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The aircraft overran the runway and crashed in a nearby area.
According to the local fire‑rescue service, the plane struck several vehicles on the approach road and caused multiple injuries. Fire crews were dispatched and more than 60 units converged on the scene, where the aircraft subsequently caught fire.
In response, Miami‑Dade air‑traffic authorities closed all runways at the airport and imposed a full ground stop to allow emergency services to secure the area and assess the damage.
Investigations are underway to determine why the aircraft failed to stop on the runway and the conditions that led to the crash.
