Authorities in New Mexico issued an arrest warrant on Friday for actor and director Timothy Busfield, known for his Emmy-winning role, in connection with child sex abuse allegations. According to the Albuquerque Police Department's criminal complaint, a child reported that Busfield touched him inappropriately numerous times during the making of the TV series 'The Cleaning Lady,' which aired on Fox. The complaint details at least two incidents, allegedly occurring when the child was aged 7 and 8, involving inappropriate touching.

The child's mother alerted Child Protective Services, and the reported abuse is said to have taken place from November 2022 until spring 2024. The complaint indicates that the child has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety, revealing fears connected to the alleged abuse, including nightmares about Busfield's actions.

Timothy Busfield’s attorney has yet to comment on the matter. The judge who signed the arrest warrant indicated that Busfield is charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor, as reported by the complaint.

The investigation into the matter began in November 2024 after a physician at the University of New Mexico Hospital reported suspicions to authorities, following the child's parents consulting a law firm regarding the allegations.

'The Cleaning Lady,' which wrapped up in 2025 after four seasons, starred Elodie Yung and involved themes of organized crime. Although Warner Bros. conducted its own review of the allegations, no corroborative evidence has been found. Busfield is well-known for his roles in 'The West Wing,' 'Field of Dreams,' and 'Thirtysomething,' for which he earned an Emmy award for outstanding supporting actor in 1991. He is married to fellow actor Melissa Gilbert.
