MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A federal officer shot an individual in Minneapolis as protests against the Trump administration's immigration crackdown continue to grow. Governor Tim Walz, responding to the incident, communicated with the White House, urging President Trump to pull federal officers from the state.

Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin noted that the individual was armed and the situation was developing. Following the shooting, tensions escalated as bystanders confronted federal officers with chants of cowards and calls for them to leave the area. One officer's dismissive response fueled further anger from the crowd.

This incident occurred in the wake of public protests that have gripped the Twin Cities since the January 7 shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman who was killed by an immigration officer. The protests intensified just a day before when thousands took to the streets in frigid temperatures, demanding an end to federal immigration enforcement in their city.
