The Boeing 767‑300 crashed just before 14:00 local time after departing Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and heading to Miami. Five people were killed and five more seriously injured, and the accident also struck several parked vehicles. Authorities say the crash occurred shortly before 19:00 GMT.

One of the five fatalities was a crew member aboard the aircraft; four others were firefighters responding to the emergency. In addition to the fatalities, five people sustained serious injuries, requiring immediate medical attention.
