**Iranians Flee Tehran Amid Escalating Conflict**
As Israeli strikes intensify, residents face fuel shortages and communication breakdowns.
In the wake of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, residents of Tehran are making a desperate exodus from the city. Amid Israeli airstrikes and Iranian retaliatory attacks, the fear and uncertainty gripping the Iranian capital have driven many to seek refuge in safer areas.
Meisam, a 41-year-old poet, recently took to the roads with a sense of urgency that has permeated the city's atmosphere. Driving towards his hometown in East Azerbaijan Province, he encountered lines of cars trying to leave Tehran – a scene that has become increasingly common as residents scramble to escape. Even at 2 a.m., gas stations are crowded with people clamoring for fuel, though many are beginning to close due to shortages, causing panic and frustration.
“We are living in a state of chaos,” Meisam shared. The tumult began with a surprise attack from Israel on Iranian cities, leading to a swift Iranian response. Reports indicate that over 200 individuals have lost their lives in Iran, with more than 1,400 injured. In Israel, retaliatory strikes have resulted in at least 24 deaths and hundreds more injured.
As the situation escalates, the Israeli military has warned residents in northeastern Tehran to evacuate due to plans for further military action targeting infrastructure. This announcement, however, may not reach everyone, as internet disruptions have left many unable to access critical information online.
Compounding the crisis, fuel shortages have led to strict limits at stations that are still operational, while communication services remain unreliable. Iranians are caught in a predicament, with many contemplating their next steps in the face of ongoing violence and uncertainty.
