In a startling incident at Avalon Airport in southeastern Australia, a 17-year-old boy armed with a shotgun attempted to board Jetstar Flight 610, bound for Sydney, on Thursday. The police reported that passengers and crew members quickly acted, restraining the teen until law enforcement arrived around 2:20 p.m. local time.
The young man, whose identity remains undisclosed, reportedly displayed the shotgun after becoming agitated when asked for his credentials by a flight crew member. Barry Clark, a sheep shearer on the flight, recounted the tense moments. “Before we knew it, there was a gun,” said Clark. “I then proceeded to do what I had to do and just put him in a bit of a lock.” He managed to restrain the assailant effectively, preventing potential harm to others on board.
Authorities quickly mobilized, bringing in the bomb response unit to investigate the teen's vehicle and bags found at the airport as a precaution. Fortunately, no injuries occurred during the chaotic event, and the young boy was taken into custody, facing multiple charges as the situation was brought under control.
