Significant drug haul highlights ongoing battle against organized crime in Ireland
Garda Síochána reported the arrest of two men, aged in their 50s and 60s, following a €5 million cocaine seizure in County Kildare. The illicit drugs, approximately 72 kilograms, were uncovered during a vehicle stop and search, as well as a search of a residential property in the Allenwood area on Wednesday.
The arrested men are believed to be linked to facilitating drug distribution for an organized crime group. Following their arrest, they were charged and are set to appear before Naas District Court on Thursday.
Addressing the significance of the operation, Assistant Commissioner Angela Willis from the Organised and Serious Crime unit stated, "This is another significant seizure of cocaine destined for the Irish market." She emphasized the commitment of An Garda Síochána and its law enforcement partners to combat drug-related organized crime that fosters harm, intimidation, and violence throughout communities across Ireland.
