Iranian President Reportedly Injured During Israeli Airstrikes

New reports reveal that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sustained minor injuries during an Israeli aerial attack on a classified underground facility in Tehran last month, where he was attending a key security meeting.

Iran's state media, Fars, closely tied to the Revolutionary Guard, reported that Pezeshkian was present during a series of strikes on June 16, which targeted the facility where top Iranian leaders were convened. The president reportedly suffered leg injuries while escaping through an emergency escape route as multiple bombs hit the location.

The airstrikes, part of what has been termed a 12-day conflict, resulted in the blockage of all entry and exit points to the facility, alongside a complete power cut. Reports suggest that at the time of the strikes, the Supreme National Security Council—Iran's key decision-making body—was in session to address urgent matters. Pezeshkian’s condition following the attack remains unclear as the news report has not been independently verified, and Israel has yet to respond to these claims.

Last week, Pezeshkian accused Israel of an assassination attempt, a claim dismissed by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who asserted that the aim of the conflict was not regime change.
