In a recent post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump announced his nomination of Tammy Bruce, a State Department spokeswoman and ex-Fox News host, to serve as the US deputy representative to the United Nations. Bruce, who has been part of the State Department since Trump's inauguration in January, is praised by Trump for her "fantastic job" in her current role.
Before her government service, Bruce spent over two decades as a Fox News contributor, during which she authored several books targeting liberal policies, notably “Fear Itself: Exposing the Left's Mind-Killing Agenda.” The timeline for her assuming the new role remains uncertain pending Senate confirmation.
In his Saturday post, Trump expressed confidence in Bruce's abilities, stating, “I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Tammy Bruce, a Great Patriot, Television Personality, and Bestselling Author, as our next Deputy Representative of the United States to the United Nations, with the rank of Ambassador.” He further emphasized her distinguished service as State Department spokesperson, where she has defended controversial policies, including immigration measures and the deployment of private military contractors to assist in Gaza.
Mike Waltz, Trump's nominee for the UN ambassador position, is still awaiting Senate confirmation, while Dorothy Shea currently serves as the acting ambassador, having previously held the role of deputy ambassador in 2024.
