Thailand, known for its relatively high gun ownership rates compared to other Southeast Asian nations, has experienced a disturbing rise in violence, although mass shootings remain infrequent. Recent years have witnessed several tragic events, including a shooting spree in 2023 at a luxury shopping center that left two dead and five injured, and an ex-policeman's horrific attack in October 2022 that claimed the lives of 37 individuals, predominantly children, at a daycare in Nong Bua Lamphu province. Additionally, a soldier's rampage in 2020 resulted in 29 fatalities in Nakhon Ratchasima.
