Taylor Swift Denounces Legal Involvement in Lively-Baldoni Dispute
Swift's representatives assert the singer is being exploited for tabloid sensationalism amid the ongoing legal feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
Taylor Swift's legal representatives have publicly criticized a recent court summons linking her to an escalating legal dispute between fellow actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Swift, who has been close friends with Lively for years, is accused of encouraging Baldoni to accept re-writes suggested by Lively for the film "It Ends With Us," a project now caught in a sexual harassment lawsuit.
Swift's team argues that she is being used as a pawn for "tabloid clickbait," asserting that she neither participated in any casting decisions nor contributed creatively to the film. They maintained that she was not present during critical discussions about the script changes made in 2023 and that she has not seen the film until several weeks post-release while on tour.
The dispute began when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment and a campaign of defamation. In retaliation, Baldoni has countersued Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, citing civil extortion, defamation, and invasion of privacy.
According to Baldoni, during a meeting at Lively's home, he was taken aback to find both Reynolds and Taylor present as "dragons" in support of Lively's proposed changes. Baldoni described appreciating Lively’s edits and acknowledged her talent in a supportive message.
Further complicating matters, it is claimed that Swift may have had a role in the casting of Isabela Ferrer, who played a younger version of Lively's character. While Ferrer noted later that Swift's involvement in auditions was significant for her, Swift's representatives reiterated that her only contribution was allowing her song "My Tears Ricochet" to be included in the movie, dismissing any other claims as unfounded.
As the legal feud between Lively and Baldoni intensifies, Swift's team remains adamant that the court summons only serves to generate unnecessary publicity rather than serve justice in the matter at hand.
