British singer FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, and actor Shia LaBeouf have officially settled their legal dispute relating to abuse claims she made in 2020. The joint statement from their respective lawyers confirmed the settlement, though they have chosen to keep the specifics confidential.
The case, which has lingered for over five years, faced numerous delays, including postponements of a trial initially scheduled for the previous year. In legal documents reviewed by Us Weekly, FKA Twigs opted to dismiss all claims against LaBeouf permanently, meaning she cannot bring them again in future proceedings.
LaBeouf has previously stated that not all allegations against him are accurate but acknowledged his responsibility for the hurt caused. Their lawyers shared a conciliatory statement, highlighting their mutual wish for each other's happiness and success.
The two met in 2018 while filming the movie "Honey Boy," and they maintained a brief relationship, which ended in 2019 due to scheduling conflicts. In her original lawsuit, FKA Twigs accused LaBeouf of continuous abuse—ranging from emotional to physical violence—including incidents in which she claimed he strangled her and displayed controlling behavior.
Speaking openly about the trauma inflicted during their relationship, FKA Twigs revealed she was left with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and expressed the challenges of recovery.
LaBeouf, who has acknowledged a history of abusive behavior, previously stated he feels shame over the hurt he has caused to others. He has expressed a desire to take accountability, indicating a wish for open dialogue surrounding the allegations made against him.
FKA Twigs, who recently released the album "Eusexua," has received significant recognition, including nominations for two Brit Awards. Meanwhile, LaBeouf continues his acting career, with his most recent project being the crime drama "Henry Johnson."
