Canadian Man Arrested for Smuggling Crocodile Skull at Delhi Airport
A 32-year-old Canadian was detained after security checks revealed he was carrying a baby crocodile skull in his luggage at Delhi airport.
Following the security screening, Delhi Customs reported that the man had violated India's wildlife protection law and customs regulations. The skull, analyzed by the Department of Forests and Wildlife, exhibited characteristics typical of a baby crocodile, including a distinctive tooth pattern and well-defined nostrils. It was revealed that the man allegedly purchased the skull in Thailand, lacking the necessary permits for transporting wildlife items. Currently, officials are conducting further tests to determine the precise species of the crocodile skull, while a case has been registered against him for his actions.
In a similar incident last year, another Canadian national was also caught at Delhi airport with animal horns taken from India's northern Ladakh region. Authorities are increasingly monitoring wildlife trafficking as they strive to protect endangered species and enforce the laws governing their conservation.
