India Strikes Targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir Following Deadly Attack

In the wake of a deadly militant attack claiming 26 lives in Indian-administered Kashmir, India has executed a series of military strikes on sites within Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Dubbed "Operation Sindoor," this initiative aims to hold those accountable for the attack that left 25 Indians and one Nepali national dead. India’s defense ministry asserts these strikes are a necessary response to a wave of aggression, but Pakistan condemns them as unprovoked, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif promising retaliation.

The Indian military indicated that nine distinct locations were targeted in the strikes, purportedly chosen due to their association with "terrorist infrastructure." India maintains that its operations were precise and non-escalatory, focusing on avoiding attacks on Pakistani military assets. However, Pakistan's military spokesperson reported civilian casualties, including 26 killed and 46 injured. The situation is further complicated by respective claims of downed aircraft from both nations and ongoing claims from India of Pakistani involvement in the April attack.

This strike comes at a time of rising tensions over the conflict in Kashmir, highlighted by India's assertion that it will pursue those behind the attack "to the ends of the Earth."
