23 More Women Allege Assaults by Convicted Rapist Zou Zhenhao
New allegations highlight the chilling reach of a serial rapist convicted in London.
In a troubling development, 23 additional women have come forward with allegations against Zou Zhenhao, a 28-year-old Chinese national recently convicted of drugging and raping 10 women in London and China. The Metropolitan Police in London confirmed the new reports following Mr. Zou's conviction last month, suggesting that the number of his victims could be much higher than initially thought.
The alleged victims, who are spread across Britain, China, and various global locations, assert that they were targeted by Zou, a Ph.D. student at University College London from 2019 to 2024. During an extensive trial earlier this year, evidence revealed that Zou lured women to his apartments using dating apps like Bumble and Chinese social media platforms such as WeChat and Little Red Book. Many of his alleged victims are believed to be Chinese students whom he encountered at social events and gatherings.
On March 5, a jury found Zou guilty on 11 counts of rape, alongside charges related to drug possession for sexual assault, voyeurism, and extreme pornography. While two women bravely testified against him in court, several others remain unidentified, raising concerns that some of his victims may not be aware of their assaults due to having been drugged. Following the conviction, police have launched a public appeal urging more victims to come forward and share their experiences.
