Spanish rescue teams are intensively searching the rugged terrain of the Pyrenees for 27-year-old Cole Henderson, who has been unaccounted for since July 9. The American hiker reached out to friends just before embarking on his hike near Mount Perdido, a challenging peak in the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. Having parked his car in the village of Torla, Henderson mentioned to friends that he was switching his phone to airplane mode, prompting concern when he failed to return for his flight home.

Friends grew anxious when Henderson did not board his return flight to the Netherlands after visiting Pamplona for the Running of the Bulls. The Guardia Civil commenced a search operation on July 14, utilizing helicopters and rescue teams throughout the Huesca province. Henderson, known for his love of the outdoors and meticulous planning, left behind camping supplies in his car, including a receipt for fuel. His disappearance has raised alarms among family and friends eager for his safe return.
