Tragic Loss: R&B Star Angie Stone Killed in Car Accident

Grammy-nominated R&B artist Angie Stone has been reported dead at the age of 63 after a tragic car accident, confirmed by her daughter, Diamond Stone, through a heartfelt Facebook post stating, "My mommy is gone." The incident occurred early Saturday when a van carrying Stone overturned in Alabama following her performance. Renowned for her hits such as "No More Rain (In This Cloud)" and "Wish I Didn’t Miss You," Stone was a celebrated figure in music, earning three Grammy nominations throughout her career.

Her journey in the entertainment industry began in the 1970s as a member of the influential all-female hip-hop trio, The Sequence. The group’s notable hit, "Funk You Up," reached number 15 on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart. In her sorrow, Diamond Stone, also a musician who performs as Ladi Diamond, expressed her shock and requested prayers for their family, noting that she was on the road at the time of the incident.

Guy Todd Williams, known by his stage name Rahiem from the hip-hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, shared that there were around nine other passengers in the vehicle with Stone during the fatal crash and lamented that she was the sole casualty. He praised Stone’s significant contributions to music, emphasizing her legacy as a vital part of the recognizably legendary group.

A spokesperson for Stone confirmed that her family had rushed to Montgomery, Alabama, and will be providing further information soon. Beyond her music career, Angie Stone also ventured into the film industry, making her acting debut in the 2002 film "The Hot Chick" and later appearing in "The Fighting Temptations" alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyoncé.
