In an unsettling turn of events, Benedetto Ceraulo, known for the notorious murder of Gucci heir Maurizio Gucci in 1995, was apprehended on Tuesday on suspicions of shooting his own son, Gaetano, during an argument about a minor car incident. This incident took place in the small town of Santa Maria a Monte, located in the Italian province of Pisa, with police arriving on the scene following a tense dispute.

Authorities stated that Ceraulo, 60, and his son were taken to the hospital, with the elder Ceraulo remaining under police custody in serious but stable condition. Meanwhile, Gaetano has been reported to be in stable condition. Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting stemmed from an outburst of anger triggered by a scratch discovered on Benedetto Ceraulo's vehicle.

Reports indicate that after shooting his son, Ceraulo attempted to take his own life. He now faces charges including attempted murder and illegal possession of a weapon.

This incident resonates deeply within the community, recalling the turbulent history of Ceraulo, who gained infamy for the assassination of Maurizio Gucci. In 1995, Gucci was murdered in Milan under orders from his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani, who was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 29 years in prison for orchestrating the crime. Ceraulo received a life sentence for his role in the murder but was released from prison a few years ago.

The local mayor, Manuela Del Grande, expressed shock at the violence in what is typically a peaceful town, stating that such occurrences are foreign to the community. “Things like this don’t happen in our little city,” she remarked, emphasizing her surprise in discovering that Ceraulo resided among them.

As investigations unfold, the community grapples with the intense legacy left by Ceraulo's actions, both in the past and present.
