Gal Gadot Opens Up About 'Terrifying' Blood Clot Diagnosis During Pregnancy
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Gal Gadot reveals the challenges she faced during her pregnancy after being diagnosed with a massive blood clot.
"Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot, 39, recently took to Instagram to discuss a shocking health scare she endured during her pregnancy. In February, just before her youngest daughter Ori was born, Gadot was diagnosed with a "massive" blood clot in her brain during her eighth month of pregnancy. The condition led her to suffer from weeks of debilitating headaches before she was rushed to the hospital, where emergency surgery was performed.
In her emotional post, Gadot described the moment as "terrifying," expressing how the diagnosis brought everything into sharp focus regarding the fragility of life. "My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear," she wrote. She chose Ori's name, meaning “my light” in Hebrew, as a hopeful symbol of emerging from the darkness of her ordeal.
Gadot candidly reflected on the past year as one filled with "profound challenges," and she felt compelled to share her experience in hopes of raising awareness regarding cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), which is the condition that caused her blood clot. The actress urged others to pay attention to their bodies and be vigilant about any unusual changes, emphasizing that awareness can be life-saving.
She thanked her medical team for their expertise, stating, "Most of all, I hope that by sharing, I can raise awareness and support others who may face something similar." In her post, she revealed that her ordeal has imbued her with a deeper appreciation for life.
The Hollywood star concluded her message by highlighting the importance of understanding the risks associated with pregnancy and blood clots. Although uncommon, blood clots can develop in pregnant women due to various factors, including age and hormonal changes. By sharing her story, Gadot hopes to empower others to be proactive about their health and well-being, reassuring her followers that awareness is the first step toward treatment.
