**Three Sentenced for C Gambino's Murder Amid Rising Gang Violence in Sweden**
**Long prison terms handed to three men in the shooting of award-winning hip-hop artist C Gambino in Gothenburg.**
Three men in their twenties were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their involvement in the killing of acclaimed Swedish hip-hop artist C Gambino, also known as Karar Ramadan, in a Gothenburg parking garage last June. C Gambino was celebrated as the hip-hop artist of 2023 by Sweden's Grammis music awards shortly before his murder, described by prosecutors as both ruthless and premeditated.
The Gothenburg court held all three men culpable of aiding and abetting in the murder, although two were acquitted of the actual shooting due to insufficient evidence to determine the identity of the gunman. Notably, the weapon used in the crime has not yet been recovered, while the vehicle believed to have been used in the shooting was discovered incinerated.
Authorities have tied C Gambino's death to a violent gang rivalry in the region, yet there is no indication that the artist was involved in any criminal activities. Sweden's urban centers have seen a surge in gang violence over recent years, resulting in numerous fatalities, frequently involving minors deliberately incorporated into violent schemes.
The 26-year-old rapper was shot in a multistory car park, described by the court as a meticulously organized attack akin to a "pure execution." Investigators struggled to collect direct DNA evidence; however, they successfully traced the suspects' movements through mobile phone activity near the time of the incident. Furthermore, extensive CCTV footage allowed them to reconstruct events leading up to the shooting, revealing that the vehicle used by the assailants had entered the car park a week ahead of time and lingered there for hours prior to the assault.
Despite raising an alarm, C Gambino succumbed to his injuries roughly one hour after emergency services managed to arrive on the scene, albeit hampered by communication issues. The court's sentencing resulted in a 22-year life sentence for one perpetrator, and terms of 15.5 and 12.5 years for the other two involved. Additionally, a 19-year-old was found guilty of arson for burning the getaway vehicle.
In another gang-related incident concluded recently, a 14-year-old boy was convicted in the murder of an individual, allegedly as part of directives from the infamous Foxtrot gang. Two other youths faced charges related to conspiracy and preparation of the murder in Skurup, although none will experience consequences due to being below the age of criminal responsibility, set at 15 years in Sweden.
Meanwhile, police in Iraqi Kurdistan have apprehended a significant member of the Foxtrot gang, purportedly linked to numerous killings in Sweden, including the incident in Skurup.
